The IMEC multimodal corridor offers India an alternative route, bypassing both Islamabad and Tehran. It strategically reconnects with the Arabian Peninsula, aiming to enhance regional stability and counter China's influence. This shift in Delhi's approach towards the Peninsula represents a significant change. In recent years, India has shed its traditional reluctance to engage strategically with the Gulf, building trust with the United States and strengthening ties with the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
 
The IMEC project envisions the construction of expansive trans-Arabian railway lines, joining the two ends of the Middle East with shipping lanes. This initiative aligns with the Biden administration's approach to the Middle East, emphasising offshore balancing and engaging regional powerhouses, in which India plays a crucial role.
India's expanding presence in the Middle East is expected to have a stabilising effect in the region, fostering economic pragmatism in a conflicted area. The India-Israel-UAE–US minilateral arrangement reflects this emerging trend, offering the Gulf Arab states a new partner for strategic diversification. Despite potential challenges like recent tensions in Gaza, India's growing footprint promises to play a vital role in reshaping the dynamics of the Middle East.
